Speaker Name: Jim Rathbun
Overview of Presentation: Modern DCS features Function and Application.
This presentation will touch on the challenges of smart I/O cards, universal I/O. Graphical Configurator, and the advantages of using SAMA Symbols over standard appearance objects.
Speaker Bio: Jim started with the Foxboro Company in early 1988, the Son of Les Rathbun a principle architect of the successful SPEC 200 Product line and 30 year Foxboro Co employee. Jim started out working in the newly minted SMD (Surface Mount Division) manufacturing facility programing the robots that placed parts on circuit boards for the just introduces I/A series. The first open architecture DCS based on the Unix operating system. In July of 1989 Jim started as an Application Engineer I for the power group Central Stations division focusing on large scale coal fired power plants. Over the next 18 years Jim rose to the level of Principal Application Engineer leading several large projects. In 2006 after 18 years in delivery, Jim took a position with the Now Invensys Process Systems (former Foxboro Co) as a Technical Sales Consultant where he has been ever since. Now Schneider Electric, Jim has been with the company for 31 years. His main focus is to scope out projects and be the primary technical resource for the customer.
